Art Harrigan is the founding partner of Harrigan Leyh Farmer & Thomsen, a commercial litigation firm in Seattle founded in 1986. Art was a partner in Craig McCaw’s investment company, Eagle River Investments, LLC, from 1997 through 2002, and also served on the board of directors of NEXTEL Partners, a NASDAQ company. Art led the negotiation and drafting of the company’s formative agreement with NEXTEL and Motorola.
For a number of years Chambers, an internationally recognized source for rating law firms, rated Art as the leading commercial trial lawyer in the State of Washington. Art has handled dozens of major commercial cases, including securing an injunction stopping the Seahawks from leaving Seattle pending the outcome of litigation, establishing the local buyer price for the Mariners, and acting as trial counsel for Microsoft in a landmark federal court case deciding important issues related to standard essential patents.
Art was Articles Editor of the Columbia Law Review and graduated with honors from Harvard College and from Columbia Law School. He is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers.
Art and Carol made an initial investment in ARES when the two founders, John Robinson and Bill Pietzke, were still developing the original ARES concept, and have made substantial additional investments since.
